Pfutsero Government College Library is as old as the establishment itself. With its humble beginnings in 1982, the rural community acted as the only supporting agency for over 2 decades.
In 2009, the Government of Nagaland took the college under its wing. Since then, the library received special attention and focus for its development was initiated. Although at snail’s pace, the collection of books and study materials in the Library has increased immeasurably. An estimated number of 3,500 books from various disciplines are now available in its collection.
The Library is a vital learning resource and therefore optimum attention and support is been given by the college. Owing to the needs and demands of the students, the services offered by the library have improved over the years. With the demand and need for quality education, and standards set by NAAC, the Library in the recent years have improved its services and increased its collection by including reference books, periodicals, journals, e-resources and has also recently automated its services.
The Library is semi-automated with SOUL 2.0 and features WebOPAC to facilitate optimum search. The Library is Wi-Fi enabled and aids students in their academic assignments. The Reference Section has been dedicated to hold special or rare editions and valuable materials of high academic value. A section in the library is allotted for teachers for their references purpose.
Currently the Library owns several Journals in various disciplines to encourage the teaching faculty for research and project works. Question Bank is also an added facility. To foster habits of reading, the Best Library User Annual Award and the Library Book Club are initiatives taken up by the Library department. In addition, the student’s librarian is also an added practice to cultivate work culture. Sincere efforts are made and suggestions considered, to make the college become at par with other premier institutes.
