One-Day Webinar on Students’ Mental Health Crisis

The Department of Sociology, Pfutsero Government College, successfully organized a one-day webinar on “Students Mental Health Crisis: The Role of Faith Community and Counselling” on 9th April 2026 at the College Seminar Hall.
The programme featured Myanbeni Tsanglao as the resource person for the day. In her insightful session, Ms. Tsanglao addressed the growing issue of mental health crises among students. She emphasized the distinction between negative and positive stress, highlighting how stress can be both harmful and motivating depending on how individuals respond to it. She further elaborated on practical ways students can manage stress effectively.
A key focus of her talk was the importance of faith communities and counselling in supporting students’ mental well-being. She encouraged students to seek guidance, build supportive relationships, and actively engage with both counselling services and faith-based support systems as coping mechanisms.
The programme was chaired by Dr. Vizolenuo Sophie, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology. The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Keneilhounuo Usou, HoD, Department of Sociology, who expressed gratitude to the resource person, participants, and organizers for making the webinar a success.
