Seminar on “Electoral Awareness”

The Department of Political Science, Pfutsero Government College, organized a student-led seminar on “Electoral Awareness” on October 27, 2025, at 12:15 PM in the college auditorium. The program was part of the department’s ongoing commitment to fostering civic responsibility and electoral literacy among students.

The event commenced with Shri. Weneitsho Lasushe serving as the Leader, followed by an invocation led by Smt. Cünülü Puro. The keynote address was delivered by Shri. Jete Ritse, who highlighted the significance of electoral awareness in the context of democratic participation.

The seminar featured three main speeches:Smt. Litsube Chido from 1st Semester presented on “Understanding Electoral Process,” providing a comprehensive overview of the key steps and stakeholders involved in elections.Shri. Peri Mekru from 3rd Semester spoke on “Voter Participation in Elections: Rights & Responsibilities,” emphasizing the critical role of active voter engagement and awareness of electoral rights.Smt. Kewechieü Chiero from 5th Semester delivered a case study on “Elections in Nagaland,” offering localized insights and sharing challenges and opportunities unique to the state’s electoral landscape.

The pledge of responsible citizenship was administered by Smt. Chitshovie-o Kadzuso. The Head of Department delivered closing remarks, underlining the importance of such initiatives for the holistic education of students.

The program concluded with a benediction by Shri. Dzuwe Tepfo, after which participants were invited to a tea break.This seminar successfully enhanced the knowledge and consciousness of students regarding the electoral process, voter rights, and the critical role of informed citizenry in sustaining democracy.
