Introduction
The department was introduced since the establishment of the college in 1982, covering both Higher Secondary / (Pre-University) and Degree, over the years, the department importance was felt and honours in degree level was introduced in the academic session 2014-15 with an intake capacity of 20 seats for Honours. The enrollment of the first batch in Economics Department opting for honours in B. A. 1st Semester was (10) Ten students, with (5) five teaching faculty managing both Higher Secondary and Degree Level for the academic session 2014-15, after which higher secondary section was detached from the college from the academic session 2015-16. The first batch from economics department cleared their degree level in the academic session 2016-17 and is further pursuing their further studies.
The department follows the curriculum and the coursework programme provided by the Nagaland University where the students are given opportunities to develop and learn through departmental seminars, group discussion, quiz, assignments, projects/field study, test etc. Apart from the other departmental activities, teaching faculties are encourage to go for orientation course, refresher course, research and other training programmes which will enhance teaching learning process. The department envisages imparting quality education with special attention to economic activities and awareness within and outside the economy.
