Introduction

Established in the year 1991, the Department of Tenyidie, at its initial years, offered Tenyidie as Modern Indian Language (MIL) in Pre-University level under the erstwhile North Eastern Hill University with Shri. Vehüpra Tünyi, as the lone Instructor who served the college till 2000. Tenyidie has also been introduced in Degree Courses in 2000 under Nagaland University. With the increase of teaching Faculty and student’s enrolment in the department, it gradually introduced both Elective as well as Honours Courses under NU in 2004 for the Academic sessions.

The Department aims to provide good communication skills, to preserve ethnic local Tenyidie language and culture according to NU Syllabus, keeping in view the changing social norms, communication patterns, and different social roles of language and Literature in the society. The department in its due course of imparting language has been slowly gaining importance, and now having a good number of students. The Department has been producing many meritorious students who brought laurels to the College in the past years.
