Pfutsero Government College celebrated its 43rd Meliorian Fest Cultural Day on March 5, 2026, at the Pfutsero Sports Complex under the theme “Honouring Roots, Awakening Future.” The event also marked the inauguration of the Aro Dze (Mini Museum) aimed at preserving and showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region.
The inaugural programme began at 10:00 AM followed by the cultural session chaired by Ms. Kacheu Puro, representative to ANCSU and PGCSU. The invocation was pronounced by Mrs. Neipreu Mero, Head of the Department of English, while the welcome note was delivered by Ms. Sesatolu Yetseo, Cultural and Social Secretary of PGCSU. Greetings were conveyed by the Principal, Dr. Anungla Pongener. The event featured a competition hour including duet performances and traditional war cry presentations.
The programme was graced by the Deputy Commissioner of Phek district, Rhosietho Nguori, as the guest speaker. The vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Dietho Khatso, Vice President of PGCSU, followed by the college anthem and benediction by Ms. Chitshovieo Kadzuso, EU President.
The second session of the festival commenced at 1:00 PM with Mr. Dzuwe Tepfo and Ms. Menupeu Rhakho, Mr. and Ms. Fresher 2025, as host and co-host. The afternoon programme featured various traditional competitions such as Naga wrestling, bamboo climbing, folk dance, winnowing, Happy Blue Black, and bamboo race, highlighting indigenous games and cultural practices.
The celebration concluded with a community feast, fostering unity and cultural pride among students, faculty members, and guests.
