PGC Celebrates Meliorian Fest

Pfutsero Government College celebrated the Meliorian Fest 2026 under the theme “Honouring Roots, Awakening Future” with a three-day series of events from March 5 to 7, featuring the 43rd Cultural Day, 43rd Literary Day, and the Meliorian Fest at Pfutsero Sports Complex and college campus.
The 43rd Cultural Day was held on March 5 at the Pfutsero Sports Complex and also marked the inauguration of the Aro Dze (Mini Museum). The programme was graced by Rhosietno Nguori, Deputy Commissioner of Phek District, as the guest speaker. In his address, he emphasized the importance of preserving indigenous traditions and cultural heritage while encouraging students to remain rooted in their identity and values.
The event featured various traditional competitions and activities including duet and war cry, along with indigenous games such as Naga wrestling, bamboo climbing, folk dance, winnowing, Happy Blue Black, and bamboo race, highlighting the rich cultural traditions of the Naga community.
On March 6, the college observed its 43rd Literary Day at the college auditorium. The programme was addressed by Neichupe Kapfo, Vice Principal of Pfutsero Government College, who spoke on the significance of literature, creativity, and intellectual engagement among students.
The literary celebration included several competitions such as debate, sketching, essay writing, slam poetry, photography, quartet, and skit, providing a platform for students to express their ideas and creativity.
The Meliorian Fest was held on March 7 above the Pfutsero Sports Complex, where all the seven departments of the college participated by setting up stalls. Various food items and vegetables were sold, and a number of games and activities were organized for visitors. Students actively managed the stalls and games, making the event lively and memorable.
The fest was officially opened by the Principal of Pfutsero Government College, Dr. Anungla Pongener, at 10:00 AM and continued till 4:00 PM. The event was not confined only to students and faculty members; many people from the Pfutsero town community also attended the fest, purchasing items from the stalls and taking part in the games.
The three-day Meliorian Fest concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and the local community, celebrating both the cultural heritage and literary spirit of the institution.
